My Theory on GMA-7 Promotional Activities

Posted on January 16th, 2008 in Current Affairs, Rants and Rave by Abby

With all that blabbing between ABS-CBN and GMA7 regarding the AGB Nielsen issue, just like to share my theory.

It might be there’s indeed a promotional activity in Bacolod. GMA7 might have hired a certain group to do the promotional activities. Now, the hired group would like to impress GMA with their performance via increase in viewership in ratings in Bacolod. And, the increase in viewership is reflected in AGB Nielsen reports. Now, the group would like to do the promotional activity the cheaper way. So, they might have thought of targeting the viewers with the AGB Nielsen “box”. With this, they can maximize their budget. And, might as well be able to demand a bigger budget since they are able to “increase” viewership in their area.

The top management of GMA7 might have no idea what the group has been doing.

This is just a theory… Cheers!

It’s all coming back to me - what does it mean?

Posted on January 5th, 2008 in Rants and Rave by Abby

Lately, I’m having dreams about my first boyfriend. I don’t know why he kept on appearing on my dreams. It’s like all memories are coming back to me. I am happily married now. But, I am now wondering what my dreams meant.

It’s like a tour from my memory lane. The dream even includes a tour of our old house at Ortega Street in San Juan. I think our old house appears in my dream since it’s where I and my ex spent most of our time. I dream about the time when we become group mates in some IT projects in our freshmen and spent numerous nights in study room. After several weeks of working late, we suddenly find ourselves liking each other. I dream about joyous moments in different parts of that old house, the swimming pool where we spent most of our Saturday afternoons. I dream about the kitchen where I cooked food for him. I dream about the music room where I played the piano for him. I dream about our video room where we did spent a lot time watching movies.

Our relationship lasted for about a year. But it ended up in a bad way. I dream about him telling me after an All Saints Day vacation that he no longer interested in me. Just like that, I dream about those hurting words he hurled at me. The reason why he wants to break up was too much to take. I ended up being obsess. I dream about the outrageous things that I did to him to get even.

I don’t know why I’m dreaming about this stuff but I’m curious to find out why. So, I did a quick search on Google. And, amazingly here’s what I gathered.

1. from Dreamdoctor.com - (http://www.dreamdoctor.com/dictionary/exlover.shtml)

Ex-lovers often appear if a relationship ended abruptly, without emotional closure. Do you still wonder if it could have worked out differently? Do you miss qualities that your ex-lover possessed?

2. from thecuriousdreamer.com - (http://www.thecuriousdreamer.com/symbols/308/)

You have unfinished business with this person

3. from dreamloverinc.com - (http://www.dreamloverinc.com/e.htm#Ex-boy/girlfriend)

You will continue to dream about your ex-girlfriend or boyfriend until you “let go” of them on a very important level, or until you learned your lessons from that relationship. Either way, dreaming about your ex-romance does not predict future involvement. It may be wish-fulfillment, reliving memories, or working out old issues.

Well, I guess my dreams are telling me about my need for a closure. True enough, I can feel the meaning of my dream. I hope that someday I and my ex can have a closure and go on with our lives. Wherever you are, I just like to say Happy New Year 2008!

Feeling so dead tired, need to re-charge

Posted on December 4th, 2007 in Rants and Rave by Abby

After so much ado about getting productive, I think I gave all my energy to getting a lot of work done. Now, I am experiencing tiredness, body pain and having a flu.

Yesterday, after being stuck in traffic for five hours! I decided to drop by at one of the Quezon City Spa - Soniare Club Spa. I came to know about it from a family friend. It was highly recommended so I decided to give it a try.

The spa is beside Starbucks along Tomas Morato and is located above Finio Restaurant. I am feeling tired and had a runny nose. The spa requires the customer to pay first before the service. Hmm, I don’t have a problem with that. Heard several time that some customer tend to run away.

After paying P400 for a Swedish Massage in a common room. I was led to a Ladies Locker Room to change. I took a steam bath, a quick shower and had my massage. I specifically requested for the therapist to concentrate on my back. By the way, if you want a 30 mins back massage from your 60 mins Swedish Massage you can request for that.

60 minutes later, I felt re-charged and rejuvenated. See below, I scanned the price list of their service.

Need to comply with Optical Media Board

Posted on December 3rd, 2007 in Computer Stuff, Rants and Rave by Abby

Recently, Optical Media Board and Pilipinas Anti-Anti Piracy Task Force has been conducting a series of raids.

So internet cafe, should beware and should start complying by installing Licensed Softwares. My internet cafe, only have 7 licensed Windows Home Edition and the rest we have installed Ubuntu. Instead of Microsoft Office, we decided to install Open Office. With this move, I hope we are already complying.

Here’s another note, although you have already installed licensed Microsoft softwares. The end-user agreement does not cover “renting it out”, it is for sole personal use. Thus, to resolve this as an internet cafe provider, you need to submit to Microsoft a “Software Rental Agreement”. In submitting the “Software Rental Agreement” you need to list down all your software inventory, number of computers and etc. After this, you need to submit it to Microsoft Philippines upon approval Microsoft Philippines will sign and mail it back to you.

Microsoft Internet Rental Agreement
Alfox Computer Center: Microsoft Rental Agreement Form.

Note: I tried to look for the link to download an agreement form from Microsoft Philippines, but could not find any.

Further, aside from complying with the license softwares. If you’re offering a CD-Burning services or selling CDRs/DVDRs, then you need to get a Permit from Optical Media Board.

“ignorance of the law excuses no one”

Find out about this via Optical Media Board Website
Some Memo Circular to take note
1) Guidelines for Establishment Offering CD-Burning Services
2) Defining the Obligations of Replicators & Duplicators
3) Information Manual on Licensing of Optical Media Establishments and Issuance of Permits
4) Guidelines relating to Recordable CDS

Some Forms to take note
1) Requirements for Licensing
2) Application for Accreditation

3) Application in securing Commercial Reproduction Permit for Optical Media

There are several requirements listed. But I think any legitimate Small Business Owners can meet the requirement easily.

My first Christmas Party for the year. Janette invited me to Digitalfilipino Christmas party last Nov 28, 2007. Whew, that was the night before the Makati Standoff and curfew!

Whew, that was a lot. I also gave away ballpens with flashlight! =) And, I raffled off 5 vouchers of P300 worth Buy and Sell Ad Placement.
