Tech Person’s Fast Foward Presentation

Last Saturday, Dad was with me when I did a website presentation to a client. I was showing the client the pages we have done. The site is still in the developmental stage. That meeting was to give the client an idea of the site flow.

After the presentation, Dad immediately whisper to me that I talked to fast and showed the site too fast. The client might have not been able to follow me. I reflected on what Dad had told me. Yup, I realized that I talked to fast. Next time, I must do it slow and make sure the client had the time to grasp it.

This morning, I had an early meeting with people from SMART. They were presenting about the SMART services. The tech guy was talking about SMART Money, SMART Broadband and SMART Menu. Well, I know the guy who presented really talked fast and was almost fast forwarding his powerpoint presentation. I was able to grasp because I’m familiar with how things work. But, I notice the other Non-Technie people in our meeting was not able to follow.

After that presentation, I asked dad if I’m also like that. Well, he said “Yup!” :)

Okey, maybe tech people tend to visualize how things work in their head. And, we assume that our client can see what’s in our head. So, with a few words we can convey our ideas to them. Naaah - this is not the case. Next time, I will try to go slow with things.
