Better Business Bureau for Filipino Online Store

Posted on November 16th, 2005 in Unsorted by Abby

One thing I found lacking in the Philippines’ e-commerce is the Better Business Bureau to assure Filipino online shoppers the reliability of the e-commerce site.

Of course, SM’s http://smsupermarket.com
and http://smappliance.com; Rustans’ http://supermarket.rustans.com/index.php and the others, have advantage over Filipino Online Store. Why? Because these companies are already establish. Thus, Filipino shoppers are confident purchasing online at their e-store.

But, what about start-up MSME’s who want to get into e-commerce business. Yes, it’s easy to put up an online store. But, will they attract buyers locally? As buyers, how are you going to be confident about purchashing from an unknown company?

One thing I could think of is to come up with a bureau that will verify the credibility of the start-up MSME’s online store. This upon several verification process will evaluate if the start-up MSMS’s online store is reliable. If upon evaluation, the said online store passed then we the bureau will place a logo on the said site that says “Site has been verified by PhilipineBBB” or something to that effect.

Now, who can implement this. Perhaps an independent organization in cooperation with PICS (Philippine Internet Commerce Society), DTI (Department of TRade and Industry) and PCCI (Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry).

Pssst… What do you think guys? I would love to hear from you. Please leave comments. Thanks!
